We believe first of all that kenneled dogs and dogs left outdoors for long periods of times cannot be well rounded, socialized, and healthy animals. Our dogs are an integral part of our lives and we would not have it any other way. That is why our goal is to keep our breeding program small and intimate; so as to properly care and attend to their daily needs. Dogs are not as needy as human children; they can stay home alone for short periods of time, can sleep alone, can go outdoors to potty of course, but ultimately, they are part of the family and should be treated as such.

Just as important it is for our children to eat a healthy and well-rounded diet, our dogs must as well. We believe an organic, grain-free diet is best for our dogs. We notice a very big difference in their energy levels, occurrence of sickness and disease, coat appearance, and their stool consistency when their diets are not as nutrient dense as they should be.
Our first choice for our dogs’ diet is homemade dog food using only wholesome, organic, raw grass fed beef, bone meal, wild salmon and grain free ingredients. However, we know this isn’t always feasible for the average pet owner so we have compiled a list of links on our sidebar for your exploration. We currently use Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul canned food when we are unable to mix our own organic recipes.

We believe in many natural remedies and/or preventions as opposed to harsh medications. (Please see side links for new info added often)
Our dogs’ undergo extensive testing to ensure their genetic soundness. This is a very important aspect of Sequoia Haven’s breeding program in order to maintain the soundness and preservation of this breed. All of our breeding stock will undergo all mandatory testing before being implemented into our breeding program. Additionally, every puppy will be checked for soundness, receive all puppy shots, will be spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped before going to their new forever homes.
In our contract it provides that a buyer has 72 hours after a dog arrives to have them checked by a veterinarian to determine the Dog's physical condition. If the dog is found to be in a general state of poor health or is found to be seriously ill, Buyer has the option to return the dog to us and we will replace the dog with the next available dog. This litter or the next.
Our guarantee also includes that if a dog dies within two years of a genetic illness we will replace the dog with the next available dog.
The above guarantees only applies to the original owner and is not transferable.
We do not assume responsibility for any health related issues or loss of life due to reactions caused by vaccinations or preparations for flea and tick administered either orally or on the skin surface.

All our puppies will receive preliminary basic training while they are in our care. They will be handled by children, loved on and petted frequently. They will be socially stimulated and exercised appropriately. By the time your puppy comes to you, he or she will be a shining star!
